What It Is

EnGrande/BudgetPlaces is an online travel agency that specialised in budget-tier accommodation including hotels, hostels, apartments, and bed-and-breakfasts. Founded in Barcelona in 2003 by John Erceg under the corporate name EnGrande S.L., the BudgetPlaces brand was launched in 2008 to consolidate the company's accommodation offerings under a single consumer-facing platform. In January 2017, BudgetPlaces was acquired by eDreams ODIGEO.

Who It Serves and How to Connect

BudgetPlaces served budget-conscious travellers seeking affordable, no-frills accommodation across more than 100 countries. At its peak, the platform worked with over 10,000 directly contracted hotels, hostels, B&Bs, and apartments worldwide, recording over 210,000 online reservations annually. Hotels and accommodation providers connected via direct contract or through channel management platforms that carried the BudgetPlaces integration. The platform was also listed as a partner on Amadeus's hospitality marketplace.

Specialty and Region

BudgetPlaces focused exclusively on the budget accommodation segment, with a target price point of approximately 30 euros per person per night. Its global reach across more than 100 countries made it a meaningful channel for budget and hostel-type properties seeking international leisure demand. Following the eDreams ODIGEO acquisition, its operations and inventory were integrated into the wider ODIGEO group ecosystem.
